Pelicans landing courtesy bus
Pelican’s Landing is a local Restaurant, Bar and Event venue in Williamstown, Melbourne. With stunning views of the yachts of Hobson’s Bay and the Melbourne City skyline, it’s well known amongst locals as a relaxed and elegant waterfront venue.
Creative - Bring the Pelican into the Community
At stagshead we take the approach of getting to know a business like we are a shareholder. It’s important that we connect with our clients and find something that is unique to them.
In this case we found a fibreglass pelican with a 1.5 m wingspan. He dominates the interior at Pelican’s Landing. He was discovered on a day trip to a country pub in Trentham, Victoria, by Dave from stagshead Brand Architects. He knew it would be perfect for Pelican’s Landing and the bird has become a real talking point and a sentimental part of the venue and its brand.
The pelican is now affectionately named Dave.
The iconic venue, and the pelication are both key to the success of the brand.
Approach - Mobile Branding - Elegant Aesthetic
Having worked several times with Pelican’s Landing, they approached us to introduce their new courtesy bus service to their patrons. In keeping with their style of relaxed elegance and a modern maritime aesthetic, we designed and implemented the use of branded vehicle wrapping.
We also updated their menus and provided branded wrapping for a prominent fridge.
Goal - Successful Mobile Advertising, Branded Interior and Menu
Williamstown is a very competitive environment, with many casual eating venues. Using branding and aesthetics places Pelican’s Landing in its own category, with no other restaurants directly competing in the mobile advertising space.
Task - Vehicle wrap, Fridge wrap, Menu design and production
The process involved using their already established style guidelines to come up with several designs for a vehicle wrap to give the business a local marketing boost.
The design concepts focussed on elements that would best stand out and clearly identify the bus as part of Pelican’s Landing. Not only is a courtesy bus a great service to customers, it’s a golden opportunity to have Pelican’s Landing more visible in the community.
By designing a bus that showed off the actual venue, people now connect the bus to the destination, creating even more brand awareness.
Result - Increased Engagement and a Friendly Environment
The client was happy with the simple and stunning design of its vehicle wrap. The Pelican’s Landing bus is frequently seen around the community, getting people home safely. Inside the venue, the menus are easy to read, and when you glance over, the fridge proudly sports the Pelican’s brand
